On the agenda for the next Redlands Town Hall meeting are TWO guest speakers:
- Amanda Stoker (LNP Candidate for the seat of Oodgeroo in October 2024);
- Redlands Social media commentary (Thea Hunter).
The meeting agenda will also include an update on Toondah Harbour and a wrap of Redland City Council activities.
The Redlands Town Hall meeting will be held on Monday 15 April 2024 at the Cleveland Scout Hall located at the corner of Gordon and Bainbridge streets, Ormiston.
The meeting will start at 6:30pm but doors open for registration from 6:00pm.

Amanda Stoker
Amanda Stoker is a former LNP Senator for Queensland, from 2018 to 2022. She held various Assistant Minister portfolios from December 2020 to May 2022.
Prior to entering politics, Ms Stoker studied law and worked as a both prosecutor and a judge’s associate.
In October 2023 Ms Stoker was pre-selected as the LNP candidate for the state seat of Oodgeroo currently held by Dr Mark Robinson (LNP).
The State Elections will be held on 26 October 2024.
Thea Hunter
Over the past few months Thea Hunter became a close observer of the Redland City Council elections and shared much interesting information on her Facebook page:

Toondah Harbour
The Toondah Alliance will be holding an event at G.J. Walter Park on 28 April 2024.
The Safe Passage event will celebrate our migratory shorebirds who are currently travelling to breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere.
The Queensland Wader Study Group recently shared news of Eastern Curlew AAK who has safely reached northern China.
The Safe Passage event will also be celebrating the many people who have worked on the campaign to save Toondah Harbour.
ACF Community Bayside will discuss what is happening at the Safe Passage event, including roles for volunteers.
Redlands2030 will discuss the announcement on 9 April by Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek that she is proposing to refuse the Toondah project, with the proponents and the public being given until 23 April to comment on this proposed decision.

Redland City Council Activities
The local government elections are over. The winners have been declared and will take up or resume their roles from Monday 8 April.

At the post-election council meeting on 8 April, Cr Julie Talty (Div. 6) was elected to serve as Deputy Mayor for one year.
The first general meeting of the new Council is scheduled for Thursday 18 April 2024.

The new Council will have much to do in its first few months including:
- Preparing the 2024/25 Budget with a rates schedule based on the State Government’s recently published land valuations;
- Receiving the State Government’s Final Redlands Housing Strategy and considering State Government requirements for amendments to the Redland City Plan; and
- Making decisions about the proposed Redlands Olympic Whitewater Stadium.

- The presentation by Suzie Tafolo, President of the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce has been re-scheduled to the Town Hall meeting on 20 May 2024.

- We updated the Toondah section to mention the Federal Environment Minister’s announcement on 9 April that she proposes to refuse the Toondah project.
- We have included the news that Cr Julie Talty (Div. 6) was elected to serve as Deputy Mayor for one year.
- Redland City Council re-scheduled its April monthly meeting from Wednesday 17 April 2024 to Thursday 18 April 2024.

This new council needs to read the room and unconditionally scrap the proposed environmental crimes of Toondah Harbour development and the white elephant, white water stadium!!!
