Quandamooka Culture

Quandamooka Festival
The Quandamooka Festival is a short ferry trip from the south east Queensland mainland.

The 2022 Quandamooka Festival will be three packed days, each featuring a program of activities to
immerse visitors in Quandamooka Culture through music, Kunjiel (corroboree), with dance groups coming from across south-east Queensland and northern NSW, food stalls, artisan market stalls, storytelling, insights into cultural heritage and caring for Country.

The Festival is a unique opportunity to learn from the Indigenous peoples’ perspective more about Country; the sands, seas, sacred lakes, creeks, catchments and creatures found across the Redlands and Moreton Bay islands .

It offers the privilege to experience the continuing 20,000 year-old culture of the Nughi, Nunukul and Goenpul clans of Quandamooka, firsthand.

The Festival is organised by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) with funding support from Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Queensland, Tourism and Events Queensland and Redlands City Council.

QYAC says it is excited to be holding the Quandamooka Festival again for the first time since 2019.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our community and visitors to Country to celebrate Quandamooka, art, culture, music and people” said CEO Damian Miley.

“When you are at the Quandamooka Festival, you become immersed in one of the oldest living cultures on earth, become socially engaged in caring for Country, and enjoy the thrill of experiencing a variety of wildlife in their natural environment” he said.
