Two party preferred vote YouGov Galaxy poll

The latest YouGov Galaxy poll shows Labor ahead of the LNP in Queensland on a 2PP basis.

Polling shows that the Labor Party has maintained a comfortable lead over the Liberal National Party (LNP) since the last Queensland State election on 25 November 2017.

The latest YouGov Galaxy polling results, published in the Sunday Mail today, indicate that Labor would get 53% of the statewide vote and the LNP 47% on a two party preferred basis if an election were being held now.

The next Queensland state election  is scheduled to be held on Saturday 31 October 2020, just under two years from now.

This poll was conducted on 7th and 8th of November with a sample size of 839.

Previous YouGov Galaxy polls with similar sample sizes have been conducted at quarterly intervals, in February, May and August of this year.

The margin of error for these polls, based on their sample sizes, is about 3%.

Primary Voting intention

On a primary vote basis, before distribution of preferences, Labor has increased its vote slightly in the latest poll, from 35% to 36%.

The LNP’s primary vote vote has fallen from 37% to 34%.

The latest poll shows the Greens getting 11%, One Nation getting 10% and Katter’s Australia Party (KAP) getting 4%.

Who would make the better Premier?

Labor’s Anastacia Palasczuk has consistently out-polled her LNP opponent Deb Frecklington on the question of who would make the better Premier. A significant proportion of the people sampled are not making a choice on this question.

A report about the latest poll in today’s Sunday Mail contained an error. The percentage of people saying that Deb Frecklington would make the better Premier was incorrectly stated as 36 instead of the correct figure which is 26.

Assessment of party leaders’ performance

The latest polling indicates that Deb Frecklington may be getting a little better known by the electorate after nearly 12 months in the job of Opposition Leader. The percentage not making an assessment of her reduced from 46% in February to 36% in November.
