Brisbane’s first Electric Vehicle Conference will be held in the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 9th November together with a free Electric Vehicle Expo on Saturday 10th November.
Take charge – go electric
There’s a big buzz around electric vehicles (EV) as petrol prices skyrocket with no sign of relief. More and more people are checking out EVs for a cost-effective, healthy and environmentally clean future.
Sylvia and Bluey
Retired Biloela woman Sylvia Wilson made news by driving her S75 Tesla EV ‘Bluey’ right around Australia for a cost of $150.90 for battery charging. Fuel for a conventional car would be about $3,000.
Sylvia (and ‘Bluey’) will be sharing her epic trip at the upcoming free public Electric Vehicle Expo on Sat 10 November at the Brisbane Conference & Exhibition Centre hosted by the non-profit Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA).
Getting ready for the EV revolution
While Australia is one of the slowest EV adopters in the world with annual sales of 2,300, globally the seismic shift is well under way. China sells 580,000 EVs each year, the US 280,000 – and in Norway almost four out of 10 new vehicles are electric.
Recently, Senator Tim Storer headed up a Senate inquiry into the state of EVs in Australia. The readiness of the transport network for increasing electrification of vehicles in coming years is currently being reviewed by a Queensland Parliamentary committee.
Implementing vehicle emissions standards, better charging infrastructure and government fleet targets will help Australia’s transition to an EV future.
The Queensland Government has initiated an electric superhighway with fast charging stations strategically located along the east coast so EVs can travel from Coolangatta to Cairns.
Electric Vehicle Association conference
The non-profit, member-based Australian Electric Vehicle Association is hosting its National Conference at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday 9 November. It brings together a ‘who’s who’ of experts from industry, government, technology and manufacturers to discuss progress of this unstoppable revolution.
Free EV Expo on Saturday 10th November
The free EV Expo on Saturday 10 November from 10:00am to 5:00pm is the first comprehensive event of its kind mounted in Brisbane.
It gives the general public opportunity to discover what’s new in electric cars, motorbikes, trikes, bicycles and industrial vehicles and supporting technology.
