The capacity of the Redlands Committee of the National Trust of Queensland has been greatly enhanced by a $3,000 grant from Redland City Council.
This grant assisted the local Committee to purchase a public address system and video projection equipment to help with public presentations and local events.
The grant was made possible through the support of Councillors Wendy Boglary and Paul Bishop. Both Councillors made a contribution from their divisional share of the Mayor and Councillors’ Community Benefit Fund.
The Council’s support of work by the National Trust in Redlands was acknowledged at a function held at the historic Grand View Hotel recently, attended by Councillor Boglary, Mr Jonathan Fisher (CEO of the National Trust of Queensland), and local committee members.
Mr Fisher paid tribute to the local committee for its achievements since it was established. He also commended the heritage of the Redlands as having great potential for tourism including the heritage precinct of Cleveland, Ormiston House and the the historic Willards’ Farm.
National Trust and Redlands tourism potential
Cr Boglary said she was pleased the grant would help the Trust at the local level to promote the tourism potential of heritage in the Redlands.
Clive Humphries, Vice President of the Redlands Branch of the National Trust, thanked Cr Boglary, Council and Jonathon Fisher for supporting the Branch by coming to the meeting. He also commended Adelia Berridge, in her role as Treasurer of the local Committee, for her efforts in securing both the funding and the AV equipment.
The next meeting of the Redlands National Trust committee is at the Redland Museum on 3rdDecember (only a few vacancies remain if anyone wants to attend).
In the new year, the National Trust’s Redlands committee will meet again on 4rdFebruary 2020 at the Grand View Hotel. Anyone interested in attending either event should send an email to; ntaredlands@gmail.com
