Redland Wildlife Hospital plans revealed

Plans for construction of the RSPCA’s Redland Wildlife Hospital near the Indigiscapes Centre in Capalaba, have been advertised for public consultation.

The planning report for this development application says:

This proposal seeks to establish an RSPCA Wildlife Hospital which will complement and enhance the existing site operations of IndigiScapes, My Horizon, Redlands City Council Native Nursery, Council Injured Wildlife Rescue Centre and public bush walking tracks. We consider the site to be compatible with the existing uses over the site by providing educational, community and veterinary services to the area.

The proposal focuses on animal and environmental wellbeing and offers immersive educational and observational experiences which will serve the local community.

The Wildlife Hospital will be built in an area between Redland Bay Road and the Indigiscapes Native Plant Nursery on land made available by Redland City Council.

Unlike many of the impact assessable development applications examined by Redlands2030, the RSPCA’s proposed Wildlife Hospital will NOT require any tree clearing and it WILL provide sufficient car parking.

A Vegetation Retention plan submitted as part of the development application confirms that no trees will be cleared for this project.

Access to the Wildlife Hospital will be via a Y intersection on the road leading to the Indigiscapes Native Plant Nursery.

Car parking for 74 vehicles will be provided at the Wildlife Hospital which exceeds the Redland City Plan’s minimum requirement of 62 car parks, according to a Transport Impact Assessment report provided by traffic engineers Ratio Consultants Pty Ltd.

Information about the proposed Wildlife hospital can be found in the in the development application documents.

Development application MCU24/0197 Material Change of Use for Community Use Educational Establishment and Veterinary Service has been advertised for public consultation until 1st May 2026. Submissions can be made by email to rcc@redland.queensland.gov.au
