Community concern about the project is growing.
The Stradbroke Island ferries leave from this area that will be a construction worksite for up to 20 years if the proposed project goes ahead.
Locals are worried about the loss of irreplaceable habitat for animals like Eastern Curlews, dugongs and koalas, as well as the increased traffic and the impact on the community and local businesses.
Mudflats, used by critically endangered migratory shorebirds as feeding grounds, will be destroyed to make way for up to 3,600 apartments.
Increased traffic from up 7,000 apartment occupants will impact on the endangered koalas who are found regularly in trees around Toondah Harbour.
This proposed project shows complete disregard for our country’s international obligations under the Ramsar Convention to protect a globally significant wetland.
We can stop this project and protect Toondah Harbour. But we need to come together and show our support for safeguarding this beautiful and significant area.
Join with us at the Walk for Toondah to help secure the future of this amazing place we all love and enjoy.
