Redland City Council meeting

Chefs Inc - a Crazy Day decision

Redland City Council’s monthly meeting starts at 9:30am tomorrow in the Council’s offices in Bloomfield Street Cleveland. Anyone can observe proceedings from the public gallery.

In 2016 the Council had a meeting on Crazy Day and approved development of the Chefs Inc. food market.

The Chefs Inc. food market opened with a great fanfare then folded within a few months. Some traders lost pots of money. How crazy was that?

Strong Dog Laws

Councillors will consider a proposed submission to the State Government about its discussion paper titled Strong Dog Laws: Safer Communities. The draft submission prepared by officers supports a number of the State Government proposals. For example:

“Redland City Council supports this statewide provision that requires all dogs across the State to be on leash, except for designated dog off-leash areas”. and

“Redland City Council supports the inclusion of a new offence including imprisonment for the most serious dog attacks.”

Secondary dwellings

Increased interest in construction of granny flats and other secondary dwellings is going to require some changes to the Redland City Plan according to an officers’ report.

They are proposing to commence a major amendment to the City Plan relating to secondary dwellings, which will include changes to the Amenity and Aesthetics Policy and Guideline and the Adopted Infrastructure Charges Resolution (No. 3.1) 2020.

Confidential items

there are three items listed as confidential:

  • New Lease – Cleveland Library Meeting Room
  • An “Out-of-Round” application for Major Sponsorship
  • Significant Contracting Plan – Mowing and Vegetation Management
