Cameron Costello is CEO of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC).

A short documentary about Cameron Costello and QYAC screened by SBS as part of the series “Desperate Measures” can be viewed on demand.

“Sacred Sands with Cameron Costello”, made in 2014, tells the story of QYAC’s struggle  to achieve better outcomes for the Quandamooka people.

Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation

The Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation manages the recognized Native Title rights and interests of the Quandamooka Peoples.

Quandamooka territory, known as ‘Country’, comprises the waters and lands of and around Moorgumpin (Moreton Island), Minjerribah, the Southern Moreton Bay islands and South Stradbroke Island. It includes the mainland from the mouth ofthe Brisbane River, Wynnum, Chandler, Lytton, Belmont, Tingalpa, south to Cleveland, to the Logan River.

QYAC is involved in discussions with the State Government about the North Stradbroke Island economic transition and some projects are already underway including the Minjerribah Cultural Centre.

World Heritage listing for a large area of Moreton Bay, Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island has been initiated by QYAC.
